Futures in engineering start at RVC

Posted on Oct 22, 2014

Through the support of the Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge (JIAC) grant, Rock Valley College and Northern Illinois University have developed a program pathway that provides talented STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) students opportunities to begin their education at RVC and develop connections with local aerospace companies where they can seek part-time engineering internships and continue their full-time classwork schedule.

RVC’s proximity to local aerospace companies adds to the benefits of starting engineering education in Rockford.  Transfer is seamless, with all courses from the (associate in engineering science) AES degree accepted into NIU’s College of Engineering.  With many aerospace companies looking to boost their high tech workforce, the need for a local educational partner and the availability of bright technical students nearby lends to a strong regional partnership and amazing early career opportunities for these students.
