Rock Valley College staff and students who watch HGTV’s popular “House Hunters” will see a familiar face tonight at 9:00 Central Time.
Tonight’s episode features RVC’s Multi-Media Specialist Abbye Garcia, Austin Poindexter and their son Easton’s search for their first home in Byron, Illinois.
The show follows a familiar formula. Couples and their realtor tour three on the market homes selected to meet their needs and wants, and they narrow it down to one house to make an offer on.
In Abbye and Austin’s case they disagreed on the style of home. Abbye was hoping for something industrial with exposed brick and beams, Austin was hoping for something in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright. Byron’s not exactly teeming with either, which only adds to the intrigue of which home they’ll choose.
The couple applied to House Hunters by submitting a video, and gave their realtor, John Orlando, a head’s up that they might be selected. Orlando said he was fine with it, but Abbye says he seemed shocked when they told him they actually had been selected, and that he had to do a crash course to familiarize himself with the show.
Abbye, described in recent media accounts as effervescent, vivacious and enthusiastic, says she’s excited and nervous about finally seeing the show. “I’m curious to see what things we said and did that they’ll use in the show.”
House Hunters airs tonight at 9 p.m. on HGTV.
